Mandarin Oriental Jumeirah | Dubai, United Arab Emirates

The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s first location in the United Arab Emirates, would have struggled to find better positioning than its proud position surveying the Persian Gulf from its sandy embankment. Dubai is world-famous for its dedication to the provision of luxury, and the Mandarin Oriental Dubai is no exception to that rule. Rubbing shoulders with the long-established Four Seasons and Bulgari resorts whilst more than holding its own, the Mandarin Oriental Dubai bridges the gap between the glittering lights of the city skyline and the crystalline waters of the Persian Gulf, intertwining the convenience and buzz of the city with the serene and sandy shoreline of the Arabian Peninsula.

Mandarin Oriental Dubai blends the best of both worlds…

Stretching out along the sandy beaches of Jumeirah, the Mandarin Oriental Dubai blends the best of both worlds – giving guests access to both city and sea. Whether attracted to the glittering lights of the marina, with its glitz and glam like a moth to a flame, or need to be coaxed from a sun lounger, Jumeirah Beach offers an attractive array of activities for holidaymakers. World-renowned shopping, gastronomic delights and adrenaline-inducing pursuits make Jumeirah Beach an attractive choice for a holiday, and, with such an array of activities, each and every member of your party will find themselves satisfied.

Jumeirah Beach and its sprawling promenade provides entertainment for young and old – an equally popular resort with adults and children, Jumeirah’s amenities expertly strikes that sweet balance of ensuring all are satisfied. The shoreline lends itself to water-based activities – notably the Wild Wadi Waterpark and any type of watersport you can possibly imagine. The Mandarin Oriental Dubai’s location truly catapults the hotel into its own league in the city – the whole city is your Oyster, from the Palm to the Pearl and (everything in-between). Dubai’s many world-famous attractions are a short taxi ride away – the Mall of the Emirates is ten minutes away, the marina 15, and any central attraction (including the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall) 20 minutes away. Whether travelling with children, or preferring a more adult holidaying experience, Mandarin Oriental Dubai is perfectly placed to enjoy the best the city, and the beach, have to offer.

…spreading the gospel of simple but flavour-rich Portuguese cooking…

If the words ‘health’ and ‘wellness’ resonate at the same frequency as you do at your core, you need never leave the hotel. The jewel in the crown of the hotel’s amenities sits the first Spa by Mandarin Oriental to open in the UAE. The Dubaian instalment of the group’s legendary spa and wellness facilities sprawl to over 2000m2, with the decadent tranquillity of the spa washing away worldly worries on entry. Boasting nine treatment rooms (inclusive of two couples’ suites), a suite solely dedicated to providing a Hammam-style experience, and a VIP suite truly fit for royalty, the Spa at the Mandarin Oriental offers an unrivalled haven of serenity, within fingertips of the city centre.

For those who prefer to indulge the desires of their inner-gourmand, the gastronomy on offer at the Mandarin Oriental Dubai is world-class (Michelin starred, in fact). Tasca*, located on the sixth floor of the hotel, and the proud holder of a Michelin star, elevates contemporary Portuguese cuisine to new lofty heights. The brainchild of culinary maverick José Avillez, Tasca* (whose name stems from the Portuguese word for ‘tavern’) marks the chef’s first international opening. Upending traditional taverna experience, whilst staying true to rustic roots, the restaurant serves plates with traditional Portuguese character and flair. In spreading the gospel of simple but flavour-rich Portuguese cooking, Avillez’s success is deservedly-garnered. With the sixth floor in full view of the breathtaking panorama of the sprawling metropolis of Dubai, and unrivalled access to the best cuisine and cellars Portugal has to offer, you would be foolish to skip a trip to Tasca*.

…the jewel in Jumeirah…

Tasca* isn’t the only purveyor of delicacies and delights at Mandarin Oriental Dubai, there are a whole multitude of ways the hotel ensnares your senses. The hotel also plays host to Netsu, the acclaimed Japanese steakhouse by Chef Ross Shonhan; a treat for eyes and taste buds alike, the restaurant is dedicated to showcasing the traditional Japanese cooking technique of Warayaki (straw fire cooking). Patrons are greeted by a large theatrical display of rising tongues of flame lashing the chefs’ counters as they torch the straw; tantalising plates of Warayaki grills, sushi, and sashimi platters are prepared in full view of diners every day. Offering dining in a sophisticated atmosphere surrounded by luxury interiors, or the option to dine al fresco atop the sprawling terrace, Netsu is truly dinner with a show, without compromising on the food.

Alongside more formal dining, the hotel also boasts The Bay, a beachside brasserie serving delectable Mediterranean-inspired dishes overlooking the vibrant waters of the Arabian Sea, Beluga Restaurant and Lounge (a dedicated caviar experience), and the Mandarin Oriental’s own patisserie, where pastry and art meets. Accommodation comprises a plethora of rooms and suites of various sizes, topped by a palatial Royal Penthouse suite, complete with 24-hour personal butler service and an exclusive menu catered by Tasca*’s Head Chef, José Avillez.

The Mandarin Oriental Group’s first foray into the United Arab Emirates exceeds even the highest of expectations. Equalling the city’s renowned grandiosity and opulence, Mandarin Oriental Dubai offers its guests anything and everything they could possibly want from a hotel, whilst staying steadfast to its famously high standards of its brand of Asian hospitality.
