We were tasked with planning an unforgettable weekend of celebrations for the special occasion.

A high-net worth client asked us to plan a 50th birthday trip to Scotland with family and friends, staying in a grand country house with every last detail taken care of so he could relax and enjoy the special milestone. With just one month to finalise all the arrangements, we set about curating a celebration to remember.

Our client wanted to hire a country house for the weekend, requesting somewhere with 10 bedrooms and an event space that was within easy reach of a major travel hub. Reaching out to industry contacts, we secured exclusive use of Kinross House, a magnificent 17th-century stately home just 40 minutes from Edinburgh. The luxury retreat is a spectacular setting for a private celebration, set in a sprawling estate with over 100 acres of formal gardens and woodland on the banks of picturesque Loch Leven.

With guests travelling from several different locations, we set about coordinating their smooth arrival in Scotland. We arranged a private jet charter to whisk those based in England straight to the grounds of the house, while the rest of the group took commercial flights from Switzerland and France to Edinburgh, where we had helicopters and chauffeur-driven Mercedes waiting to transfer them to the estate.

Every part of the trip was carefully curated, from having hampers of Scottish goodies waiting in the guestrooms to planning a tailored itinerary of activities such as highland games, murder mystery dinners and gin tastings. The group were impressed with our attention to detail, which included noting their favourite snacks and gifting everyone a kilt in their size. Our travel manager even flew in to personally plan and oversee the birthday party, which was a highlight of the trip, featuring bespoke menus, decorations and a cake topped with a figurine of the client.
